Real Stories, Real Impact: Empowering Women Through Community

How we helped build a thriving digital community that supports and uplifts women

The Challenge

Many women in the Midwest want to engage in open conversations about issues like LGBTQ+ rights, gun reform, and reproductive freedom — but often hold back out of fear of being judged or misunderstood. These topics are deeply personal and, in some communities, still considered too divisive to discuss out loud. Galvanize Together recognized that creating change starts with honest dialogue, but that dialogue needs a space where people feel safe showing up as themselves. Together, we built a peer-to-peer storytelling campaign that invited women to share their own lived experiences — not to debate, but to connect. Through these real stories, we helped grow a digital community where women feel seen, supported, and encouraged to keep the conversation going.

Our Response

People First and Galvanize Together set out to create awareness for their website galvanizetogether.org via peer-to-peer storytelling. By handing the mic to those with real-life experiences, we connected authentically with audiences, driving increased awareness and meaningful engagement to Galvanize Together via SMS sign ups and new followers to @galvanize_together on IG. Throughout the campaign, we employed a storytelling approach, encouraging influencers to share personal experiences of feeling empowered by the support of other women. This created an authentic connection between their stories and Galvanize Together’s mission to inspire and support women.

Results

  • Followers engaged with our creators’ posts with an impressive 96% positive response rate, based on 1.4k comments.
  • Our focus on ‘real talk, real conversations’ aimed at delivering evergreen messaging and raising awareness for Galvanize achieved an engagement rate of nearly four times the industry average.
